Don was employed by the City of Joliet for 27 years. He held the position of Director of Planning and Economic Development for 22 years from 1987-2009. During his tenure as Director he coordinated large development projects in Joliet including: Harrah’s and Empress Casinos, Downtown redevelopment, CenterPoint North Intermodal, commercial revitalization of Collins Street and the former Jefferson Square Mall property, the proposed Bridge Street Mall project, and numerous commercial projects along the major arterial corridors of Joliet. Don was involved in the expansion of Provena St. Joseph’s Medical Center and professional medical and office complexes throughout the city. Don has served as the Senior Advisor for Planning and Advancement at the University of St. Francis in Joliet since 2009. His current position is Senior Advancement Officer. Don currently is an elected member of the Joliet Township High School Board of Education. He also serves on the Board of the Joliet Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Joliet City Center Partnership Marketing Committee.
Don has been married for 31 years to his wife, Kathy. They have two adult children, Mike, 23, and Kristen, 27, who is married to Matt Streid of Batavia. Don and Kathy are parishioners of Holy Family Parish.
