Anthony Uremovic – District 3 City Councilman

Councilman Uremovic has represented the residents of Joliet since 1985 and has been chairman of the City’s Finance Committee since 1991. Tony is employed by Joliet Junior College as the Chairman of the Business Department. He has a Masters degree in economics from DePaul University and a Ph.D. in economics and public policy analysis from the University of Illinois. Tony is also a Veteran of the United States Navy having served from 1967 to 1971. Other activities include being a Director of the Bank of Shorewood and a member of the Advisory Committee for the Political Science Department at the University of Illinois-Chicago. He is also a member of the American Legion Post 1080, Elks Lodge 296 and the Knights of Columbus. He served as a Commissioner on the Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission (NIPC) from 1991 to 1999 . He belongs to the American Economic Association and the National Association of Business Economists.

Goals for the City of Joliet
Over the past 20 years we have substantially reduced taxes and eliminated fees. It is my desire to continue to enhance the financial stability of the City of Joliet, enhance service performance and also to work with state and local businesses to ecologically enhance District 3 and the entire City of Joliet. Also I will continue to enhance the business and economic status of the city to create better paying and better quality jobs for our citizens.

Family History
Tony has been married to Mary Catherine Lahey-Uremovic for 26 years. They have two sons, John 22 and Michael 18.
