The following guidelines have been developed to assist in obtaining Real Estate Transfer Tax Stamps.  This represents a brief introduction to the procedures and prerequisites established in the City of Joliet ordinances, codes and policies.  The use of these guidelines will maximize the efficiency and minimize the time required to obtain the Real Estate Transfer Tax Stamps from the City.  It should be recognized that these guidelines are general in nature and that specific problems will be given personal attention by City staff.  The information presented has no statutory standing and should not be considered a substitute for the actual law, ordinance, codes or policies of the City of Joliet.
