APPLICATION PROCESS
1. Submit application with application fee, pay stubs and other income information to:

Application fees:
Married - $18.22
Unmarried - $11.25 application fee per applicant/co-applicant

2. Applicants will be notified by the Neighborhood Services Division of approval or denial of their application.

3. For applicants that meet the pre-application requirements, an interview will be scheduled. The following documents should be brought to the appointment:

  • Income statements for all persons over the age of eighteen (18) anticipated to live at the property.
  • Deposit account statements. Three (3) months worth of checking account statements and one (1) current statement of savings accounts.
  • State ID or Drivers License.
  • Permanent Resident Alien Card. (if applicable)
  • Tax Returns – two (2) years of tax returns unless self-employed. If self-employed, three (3) years of tax returns will be requested.
  • Divorce Decree. (if applicable)
  • Letters of explanation on any disputed credit issues.

NOTE: If separated, spouse will be required to sign documents waiving their Homestead Rights to the property.

Once the interview takes place and all of the documentation is received, the city representative will set up appointments to view the homes available through the Local Homestead Program. It is suggested that all parties involved in the purchase be present to view the homes. If you are not interested in the homes currently available, it will not preclude you from future homes as they become available.

PLEASE NOTE: It is the responsibility of you, the applicant to inform the city representatives of any changes in the household such as: income, additions to family size, decrease in family size, etc. Once a year, we will update information if you have not been matched with a home.
