Welcome to the City of Joliet's web site.

Joliet now has a population over 145,000 and remains one of the fastest growing cities in Illinois and in the United States. New housing starts have averaged over 1,400 a year. The new population numbers show that Joliet has become a destination city and now the entire country is starting to notice.

More people moving into the City creates a broader tax base for our residents…and more new homes built in Joliet creates more jobs. In addition to being a great place to live, Joliet is also a great place to play. Millions of people visit Joliet each year to check out our two casinos, NASCAR track, NHRA dragstrip, our beautiful baseball stadium, water park, library and museum.

Casino gaming revenue has allowed the city to take on projects never before thought possible. Over 90% of gaming revenue is put back into the city through our neighborhood improvement program, economic development program and other programs like those. Joliet is the trendsetter when it comes to supporting local schools. No other community in Illinois helps schools the way we do. Click here to take a look at how local schools have benefited from Joliet’s generosity.
