J.W. Downey house

The J.W. Downey house is a 2 ½ story Queen Anne style wood clapboard/cut cedar shingle structure built by noted Joliet architect Julian Barnes in 1889 on a Joliet limestone foundation. The structure retains its original open wrap front porch with decorative spindlework and a 2 story oblong tower. The structure is situated on a prominent hilltop location which adds to the grandeur of the residence.
