John D'Arcy home

Built in 1899, the John D'Arcy home is an asymmetrically massed structure built on a Joliet Limestone foundation. It has a full-length porch with Ionic columns, topped by a NeoClassical entablature; the rooflines are also detailed with a Neoclassical entablature. A porte-cochere set on ionic columns extends on the north façade and repeats the NeoClassic entablature. The entryway is topped with an elliptical fan light transom, and the second and third levels of the home feature oval windows.

The premier resident of this home was Mr. John W. D'Arcy, a native of Joliet. He was a noted lawyer and leader of civic enterprise and resided in the home until his death in 1935. This structure also served as a nursing home; and is presently a day care center and residence for its owners.
