Joliet History on DVD’s

Over several years the Joliet Historic Preservation Commission has produced a series of programs on architectural history and preservation in Joliet. These programs have been aired in the past on Joliet Community Television. Now the programs have been converted to DVD and are available for loan or viewing at the two Joliet libraries. They are also being placed in the libraries of area high schools and universities to be utilized for history and educational purposes.
The series of three DVD’s consist of 12 programs ranging from “What is Preservation?” to highlighting the residential, commercial and institutional buildings that have played an important part in Joliet’s history.
The Joliet Historic Preservation Commission is a 12 member working commission. Work done by the commission is on a volunteer basis. Currently the Commission is completing a program featuring Tudor architecture in Joliet. Look for this program to be aired on Joliet Community Television, Channel 6, in early 2010.
